(Optional Group of Programs)
Use the COMM program to access "FIDO" for communicating with Bookstore Manager Software’s BBS and the optional Electronic Ordering programs for transmitting orders to vendors.
FIDO is a program that allows you to download/upload file(s) from Bookstore Manager’s BBS. Our BBS uses Wildcat! and supports 2400 bps to 33,600 bps connect rates. Before using this program you will need to set up your store’s unique settings in SYS, Config File, Change Misc. Configurations, number 7010.
To open COMM, press <Alt M> ("Menu") and follow the Menu path illustrated below, then press <Enter>, or simply enter <COMM> in the "Enter Program Name" field and press <Enter>.
This button starts the included "FIDO" program. This program will call the Bookstore Manager Software BBS, and you will be able to download or upload files.
This button starts the optional "Generic Electronic Ordering" program. In addition to the vendors listed on the right side of the screen, this program can be used to call vendors not set up otherwise in the communications program.
Standard Automated Session (SAS)
This button starts the optional "SAS" program. This program is for vendors who are set up to accept Standard Automated Sessions. These vendors are listed on the right side of the screen.
This button starts the optional "SAA" program. This program calls Spring Arbor’s system. For details, see Electronic Ordering under the "Miscellaneous Other Programs" section of this reference manual.
This button starts the optional "Ingram" program. This program calls Ingram’s system. For details, see Electronic Ordering.
This button starts the optional "NewDay" program. This program calls New Day’s system. For details, see Electronic Ordering.
X-Net (GE Information Services)
This button starts the optional "X-Net" program. This program communicates with the General Electric Information Services (GEIS) mailbox system.
You may use this button to access the IVIC ("Electronic Invoices and Confirmation") program, which is part of the optional Electronic Ordering programs.
