GEO32 – Generic Electronic Ordering

The GEO, GEO.EXE and GEO32.EXE programs allow you to send an order to vendors that support the following call sequence.

  1. Call the vendor’s modem and establish a modem connection
  2. Send the order to the vendor using an Xmodem protocol
  3. Receive the acknowledgment using an Xmodem protocol
  4. Hangup the modem
Currently, we know of the following vendors that support the generic format: Anchor, Appalachian, Chordant, Moody Press, New Day, R.G. Mitchell (Canadian distributor) and Riverside.

On the “GEO32 Settings” tab, you need to specify a button for each vendor you order from and indicate the IVVM number for that vendor.  In addition, if a vendor has specific connection requirements, you can press the corresponding “Configure and Save” button under “Unique TAPI Configurations.”  Once you have configured the vendor buttons, click on the “Order Type” button.  This is the default start position for the program once you have configured the buttons.

  1. Use the first radio button in the “Connection Type” group to send an order and request the acknowledgment in one call.
  2. Use the second radio button in the “Connection Type” group to request an acknowledgment for an order that you previously sent in.  You will also need to select an option from the “Previous Acknowledgment Type” group.  Each vendor has unique requirements for this, and some do not support previous acknowledgments.  Contact the vendor for the type of previous acknowledgment request file to send.
  3. The third radio button in the “Connection Type” group is for testing.  You should only use this option when working with BSMGR support.
Next click on the vendor’s button.  This will show an order summary screen.  Verify that the last prepared electronic order for the vendor is the order you want to send.  If it is the correct order, click on the “Correct P.O – Send the Order” button to send the order.  If this is not the correct order, click on the “Wrong P.O. – Do Not Send!” button.

Once you have sent the order and received the acknowledgment, use the IVIC program in BSMGR to process the electronic acknowledgment.
