Technical Support: Miscellaneous Modem Error Messages
No Carrier
This message usually indicates a
problem with the number you are calling. Bookstore
Manager interprets this as a busy signal and redials up
to 10 times. If you continue to get this message go to a
telephone and dial the number to see if you can get
through. If you can get through, follow the steps under
"No Dial Tone" .
No Dial Tone
Check the phone line. Make sure it
is plugged into the wall and into the "telco"
or "line" jack on the modem. External modems
may have a picture of a wall plug on the bottom of the
modem. Try the program again. If you get the "No
Dial Tone" message, get a telephone and plug it into
the "phone" jack on the modem. Check for a dial
tone on the telephone. If there is no dial tone, there is
a problem with the phone line. Call your telephone
service provider and report the problem.
Transmitter Did Not Start
If the error occurred while
transmitting an order, simply try to resend the order.
If the error occurred while receiving the acknowledgment,
Try to request a previous acknowledgment.
