IVUL - 29 Convention/Laptop Utilities
This
feature is used for updating items that are ordered or added to inventory by
use of a laptop computer while at a convention.

- It
is important when making purchase orders on the laptop that you make sure
the purchase order numbers do not conflict with any purchase orders made by
the store during the same period.
It is recommended, therefore, that the purchase orders on the laptop
end with a number other than 1.
Example:
Purchase order # 0107140971 would be the first (1) for vendor #097 created
on July 14, 2001.
For conventions, you might consider always making the P.O. end with a
“C” instead of a “1,” i.e. 010714097C.
- The
"Write from Laptop" option is run on the laptop and creates a file
called “LAPSEQ” in the laptop's book directory.
The user is prompted for a “Beginning Date.”
This
tells BSMGR which titles are actually new since BSMGR was copied to the
laptop.
- The
“LAPSEQ” file should then be copied from the book directory on the
laptop to the book directory on the server.
The "Update Server" option adds any new titles that were
added during the convention, as well as updates the server with any purchase
orders created during the convention.
Note:
For
Multi-Stores that are not connected via lease line or the Internet, the new
title information will be completed for these stores via the "TRAN"
program. It
is not necessary to run this utility in any store except Store #1.
