Question:

How do I install and update the Ingram PROfiche database on my SCO Unix system?

Answer:

Monthly Update for Ingram’s Database: On the server, insert Disk #1 of Ingram’s PROfiche database disk for UNIX and type in:

ingram.update <Enter>

This will take the files off the disk and put them where they need to be. When the script file finishes, go into BSMGR and run

IVUP <Enter>

from the Select Option and choose to update Ingram.

Full Install of Ingram’s Database:

At the Select Option, type in COMM. Choose <F5> for BSMGR.
Make sure you are set up to RECEIVE files, then choose the tmp directory.
Type in ingram.up for file #1 and quit for file #2. Your computer will dial into BSMGR’s BBS and download the script file.

When that is finished, exit BSMGR to the $ prompt.

To get the script ready to use, type in:

cd /tmp <Enter>
tar xvf ingram.up <Enter>
cd /bsmgr/acu <Enter>
chmod 777 * <Enter>

Insert Disk #1 of Ingram’s database disk for UNIX and type in:

cd /bsmgr/book <Enter>
pax -rf /dev/fd0135ds18 <Enter>

(this will prompt you for the remainder of the disks)

mv pfdfiche.dat PFDFICHE.DAT.Z <Enter>
compress -d PFDFICHE.DAT <Enter>

Once you are back at the $ prompt, you are ready to convert the Ingram file into BSMGR format.
This last step will take a minimum of 12 hours.
In BSMGR, at the Select Option prompt, type in: INGRAM <Enter>

To enable access to the Ingram database from the IVDI program, you need to add the following line to your SYS | Environment file:
DATABASES-ENABLED 10000
