Technical Support: Modem Locked at Install_ipr

This error usually occurs as a result of using com 3 on an internal modem.
To check the com port, go out to the DOS prompt on the machine where the error occurred and type: set < press enter>.

This will display the environment variables. Look for TID= . If you find it, the com port is set to what ever the last digit is. ( i.e. TID=EA234567890123 com port is 3)
If you do not find it, go into SYS |Config Line # 217. This will tell you the com port.
Always check for the TID first, because if it exists it will override line # 217.

If you find the com port is set to 3, the modem must be removed and the jumpers on the modem set to com 1 or 2. Then edit the autoexec.bat file and either add or change the TID line so that the last digit equals the com port set on the modem card. (If you are at a POS station be sure you are at the A:\> prompt unless the POS has a hard drive, then you should be at the C:\> prompt.
Finally, reboot the computer and go into CMOS. Find the settings for the com ports and disable the com port you jumpered the modem to use..
