SLCM - MANUFACTURERS COUPON MAINTENANCE

To open SLCM, press <Alt M> (“Menu”) and follow the Menu path illustrated below, then press <Enter>, or simply enter <SLCM> in the “Enter Program Name” field and press <Enter>.

Suppliers such as Chordant are now printing coupons in major magazines, etc.  A UCC coupon is a special coupon that has a barcode associated with it.  In order for BSMGR to recognize these coupons, they must be entered into your system.  Each coupon consists of a "Coupon Number" which is the UCC code that is on the coupon, an optional description, an optional expiration date, and optional associated item numbers.  Use the associated item number for validation of coupons that require the purchase of one item in order to get the coupon savings on the second item.

The barcode instructs the POS system as to the value of the coupon and any restrictions on it.  A restriction could be "Must Purchase By Certain Date" or “$5.00 Off Any Sparrow CD When Two (2) Other Sparrow CD's Are Purchased.”  The POS has to verify that the restriction is met; therefore, UCC coupons should be rung through the POS at the “Item #/Price/Disc,” field after all products for purchase have been rung up.

The way BSMGR determines that a coupon is valid, is through a UCC coupon file.  This file contains known, valid UCC coupons in our Industry.  (You certainly wouldn't want to take a "Tide" coupon just because it is a UCC coupon.)

This feature is turned on in SYS Config. # 4010 (Use Manuf Coupon File?).

BSMGR can produce a report indicating coupons that have been redeemed.  (See SLCP)
